Parenting In School
Are you still in school? If so, you’re likely wondering how it’s possible to finish school while parenting. But it’s important to know that it is possible.
In fact, there is a federal civil rights law that’s in place to protect your rights as a pregnant student. According to Title IX, you are entitled to:
- Excused extended absences for pregnancy-related appointments, etc.
- Reasonable accommodations, like larger desks, elevator access, and more
- Protection from harassment
If you are pregnant and in school, it’s important to talk to your guidance counselor as soon as possible to ensure your rights are protected and that you have access to what you need to succeed.
